Beijing Subway Operation Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Subway Company") was established on April 15, 1970. It is a large state-owned sole proprietorship company under the jurisdiction of Beijing Municipality and the earliest urban rail transit operation enterprise in China. It opened and operated the first subway in New China. The subway company is positioned to ensure the safety of urban operations, enhance urban carrying capacity, and become a rail transit operator that satisfies the people, provides strong guarantees, and is at the most advanced international level. Its main business covers rail transit operation services and rail transit value-added services. Around the two main businesses, three major segments have been constructed: passenger service and operation business, value-added service resource operation business, and operation support business, forming a high-quality collaborative development business pattern.
As of the end of 2023, the company has 33523 employees, operates 17 lines with a total operating mileage of 548.7 kilometers, operates 335 stations, and 79 transfer stations.
