As of December 2017, there were 7 rail transit lines in operation in Wuhan, 167 stations in total, with a total length of 237 kilometers, ranking 7th in Chinese Mainland. As of December 2017, there are a total of 16 railway lines (sections) under construction in Wuhan, with a total length of 360 kilometers. By 2020, Wuhan's rail transit will form 11 lines with a total length of 401 kilometers, basically forming a rail transit network system of "connecting the main city and the new city".
